Can a Spaceship about 3,000 miles in diameter land on a planet, and take off easily as depicted in “Independence Day: Resurgence”?

Our Planet as well as our solar system is young compare to our entire universe. The universe was estimated to be about 13.8 billion years old while our solar system with our planet Earth is about 4.6 billion years old. Recently, astronomers had discovered thousands of other solar systems in a small 3000 light-years long band in our milky-way galaxy, estimating that countless of other solar systems exist throughout the universe.

Many of the confirmed solar systems are about twice the age of our system and some of them have at least one potential earth-like planet. Plenty of time for any intelligent life on that planet to evolve to technologically advance civilization far more superior than ours. So superior that they can even build a planet-size space-ships. Now, can a space-ship with its diameter roughly the same as the moon’s diameter safely lands on a planet the size of the earth and then, take off easily as depicted in the movie? According to the theoretical physicist it is impossible unless anti-gravity technology is generated on that ship.

First of all, gravity is an attractive force between objects, big or small, living or non-living. It is the force that keeps you on the earth. It is the force that keeps planets in orbit around stars, moons around planets, asteroids or any smaller bodies in space around stars, planets, each other and so on. Anti-gravity on the other hand, is an idea of creating a place or object that is free from the force of gravity. In other words, it’s a hypothetical force opposing the force of gravity. It does not refer to the lack of weight under gravity experienced in free fall or orbit, or to balancing the force of gravity with some other force, such as electromagnetism or aerodynamic lift. Anti-gravity had been a recurring concept in science fiction novels, movies and TV-shows, particularly in the context of spacecraft propulsion.

Scientific experiments on how to generate anti-gravitational force had been ongoing for decades and till now the experiments  had been unsuccessful to the point that it is considered highly unlikely that anti-gravity is possible. Maybe our current technological advancement is not allowing that to happen. Perhaps intelligent Alien life with superior technology was able to achieve that in the distant past, even weaponize it as depicted in the movie.

The malevolent alien beings used anti-gravity as a weapon of mass destruction to devastate Southeast Asia all the way to Middle East as shown, pulling up buildings, cars, people, ships, etc in Singapore in the picture on the left.

As the spaceship moves over Europe, the weaponized anti-gravity was deactivated allowing the objects picked up from Asia and Middle East to fall back to earth in a catastrophic proportion, seen in the picture on the right as the world's tallest building from Dubai with other debris falling into London.

In reality, any super advanced alien beings would have preferred setting their massive mother-ships in orbit around their target planets other than landing on it, releasing smaller spacecraft on the planet. They would prefer harvesting energy from the star other than the planet’s molten core.
